The Chicago crowd was hot for their hometown hero. Chants of ‘CM Punk’ rang out way before the opening bell rang. Darby Allin walked out first, to a mild reaction from the crowd, which would slowly turn on him. When ‘Cult of Personality’ hit, the roof came off the NOW Arena in Chicago, Illinois.

Darby and Punk started off slowly, with the younger superstar taking control early on. Eventually, Punk wrestled his way back into the match, showing absolutely no signs of ring rust. He dominated the smaller Darby and cut into his offensive. For Allin, attack is the best defence, but not when you’re wrestling the Best in the World.

After such a scintillating display, all signs point towards Punk, making another open challenge to a younger talent in AEW. It could be Sammy Guevara or MFJ, or he could even form a team with Darby and Sting. Nevertheless, following that insane match would be a task.
