AEW Full Gear saw a shocking turn of events. Although most of the champions retained their titles, Cody Rhodes was not that lucky. He lost his AEW TNT Championship to newbie Darby Allin, shocking the fans.

Cody won the championship after a brutal and bloody Dog Collar match with Brodie Lee a few weeks back. The match put things into perspective for the champion, and he declared how he would face one opponent each week.

After two back-to-back matches with Orange Cassidy, Rhodes faced Allin as fate would have it. Darby Allin defeated Cody to become the new AEW TNT Champion at Full Gear after hitting a coffin drop and pinning the champ.

Cody wrestled as Cody Rhodes for the first time in AEW

During the pre-match introductions, Justin Roberts announced the American Nightmare and Prince of Pro Wrestling as “Cody Rhodes.” AEW television got a big pop out of the Daily’s Place crowd. Jim Ross also called attention to the Rhodes introduction to AEW.
