Reports state that Cody Rhodes injured himself following his match on Wednesday’s AEW Dynamite.

According to Rhodes’ manager, Arn Anderson, the former hurt his shoulder’s rotator cuff during his tag team match alongside Lee Johnson against Peter Avalon and Cezar Bononi.

The AEW medical team confirmed that he had suffered a minor tear on his left rotator cuff. As of now, there are no further reports that explain what the next step for Rhodes will be.

As per reports, Cody Rhodes will begin his recovery immediately, considering he has a tag team match against Shaquille O’Neal and Jade Cargill.

For the uninitiated, Rhodes was initially supposed to pair up with his wife, Brandi. Unfortunately, she couldn’t be a part of this match because of her pregnancy.

However, the NBA star accepted Cody Rhodes’ challenge after the latter called him out on AEW Dynamite.

“Cody Rhodes, you little punk. You want to battle, you just name the time and the day. You little punk, with your blonde hair, you look like a little girl, You want some of the Shaq Attack? Name the place. Matter of fact, let’s do it in March. How about that?” h/t Comicbook

If not for anything else, just the presence of the NBA Legend inside the squared circle will reel in a significant audience. In addition to wrestling fans, admirers of the Lakers legend’s basketball exploits will also tune in to watch him dunk it out in the ring.

However, he wants to take a different approach than his father, Dusty Rhodes.

It so happened that during his childhood days, Dusty Rhodes let Cody believe in the storylines like they were real. As a result, Rhodes didn’t want to enter the professional wrestling industry for a long time.

He wants to make sure that his son or daughter knows the difference between storylines and real life. However, he wants to have the same fun Dusty did, so it might not be right from the beginning.
