The main event of AEW Rampage was the Women’s World Championship match between Dr. Britt Baker D.M.D. and Red Velvet. AEW fans in the Pittsburgh arena were hyped for this match, as they could watch their hometown hero Britt Baker.

The match between these two was declared weeks ago on AEW Dynamite when Red Velvet challenged Baker for the title. Ever since then, the duo has been in a fierce rivalry, and it all ended at the debut edition of AEW Rampage.

Britt Baker successfully defends her World Champion title at AEW Rampage

As Britt Baker came out to the ring along with Rebel, the fans gave a wild pop to their hometown hero. Red Velvet and Baker tried to end the match quickly as they attempted their finishers early on. However, both superstars failed to execute. The Pittsburgh crowd was very much hostile to Red Velvet as they booed her throughout the match. Both Superstars had their share of momentum in the match, but the interference of Rebel didn’t help Velvet capitalize on her momentum.

At last, Rebel was asked to leave by the referee when she was caught for handing the title to Britt in between the match. Towards the end of the match, Velvet tried to apply the lockjaw on the champ, but Baker fought it and reversed the submission on Velvet, causing her to tap out.

Baker celebrated the victory with her hometown crowd and raised the title in overjoy. But Baker wasn’t done with Velvet as she continued to attack her after the match. Finally, Kris Stadtlander came out and attacked Baker to save Velvet from a further beat down.

But a mysterious woman appeared from nowhere and took down Stadtlander. As the woman took off her hat, the fans went wild to see Jamie Hayter. Hayter, who was last seen two years ago, raised Baker’s arm as the champ raised her title.

The Wrestling world has already started reacting to the main event of the AEW Rampage. One familiar name responded to the eventful match between Britt Baker and Red Velvet. It was none other than WWE NXT Superstar Adam Cole. 

He took to his Twitter to share his views about the match and his delight to see his girlfriend Britt Baker win the match in front of her home crowd. In addition, Cole tweeted the hashtag Brittsburgh and delighted wrestling fans.
