WrestleMania is WWE’s flagship event, a sports entertainment extravaganza of epic proportions. Every year, over 70,000 people attend this annual festival of wrestling, and millions watch from home. While WWE has WrestleMania, AEW has its own flagship show, Double or Nothing.

AEW Double or Nothing might only be two years old, but it is already a much-awaited event in the wrestling calendar. The first edition of Double or Nothing featured some of the best matches of 2019, from Cody vs Dustin to the Young Bucks’ war against the Lucha Bros.

To ensure Double or Nothing 2021 is of the same magnitude as WrestleMania 37, here’s five ways AEW can make that happen.

Move out of Daly’s Place

Since the pandemic struck, Daly’s Place in Jacksonville, Florida has become the home of AEW. Along with Dynamite, every PPV from Double or Nothing 2020 to Full Gear took place there. AEW direly needs a change in scenario, just like WWE switched to the Thunderdome.

Moving to a bigger arena might be the solution for AEW to make Double or Nothing really mean something. Daly’s Place allows a crowd of 1000 to 1300 people, but a larger venue may seat more. WrestleMania comes from the Raymond James Stadium, and AEW too should move to a similar location for a better PPV experience.

Blood and Guts> Stadium Stampede

Last year, the Elite vs the Inner Circle feud culminated in a wonderful and thoroughly entertaining Stadium Stampede match. While the match was brilliant, AEW’s original plan was quite different.

The pandemic led to AEW canceling the Blood and Guts match, which bears a resemblance to NXT’s War Games. While Stadium Stampede was a wonderful concept, Blood and Guts would be a much more graphic spectacle.

The Inner Circle vs the Pinnacle is a feud that deserves the stipulation. While it has the potential to headline any PPV in the world, why not AEW’s biggest PPV?

No Casino Battle Royal/Ladder match

In recent years, the Casino Battle Royal AEW adopted from Double or Nothing has been a failure. While the 2019 version made sense and had the right winner, the following editions have disappointed. Nyla Rose’s victory at All Out 2019 led to a big win against Riho, but the match was a disaster.

In 2020, AEW put on a ladder match at Double or Nothing to crown the new #1 Contender for the AEW World Championship. The debuting Brian Cage won the match but lost his title shot ridiculously.

In a similar way, every Superstar who won either a battle royal or ladder match to become #1 contender has failed, and no new star has been created either.

Whether it’s Lance Archer, Scorpio Sky, or Brian Cage, neither superstar amounted to anything once they lost their title shots. It’s best to do away with the concept entirely.

Put the AEW Women’s Title on Britt Baker

After the Light’s Out unsanctioned war on Dynamite, Dr. Britt Baker came out of it looking like a warrior. While Thunder Rosa might’ve won, Baker emerged from the match as the toughest woman in the business. Her performance warrants her a title shot against Hikaru Shida; unfortunately, she took the pinfall in the match.

Baker is the natural successor to Shida’s reign. At Double or Nothing, a triple threat match might be the best way to put the title on Baker, who could have a reign similar to the one her boyfriend Adam Cole had in NXT.

Kenny Omega vs Christian Cage: AEW World Championship

Kenny Omega has a lot of potential challengers for the AEW World Championship. His issues with Jon Moxley haven’t come to a definite end, he has his problems with Death Triangle, and he faces the IMPACT World Champion Rich Swann at Rebellion in a Title vs Title match.

Despite the obstacles ahead of Kenny, his biggest challenge comes from Christian Cage. AEW’s newest big signing introduced himself to Omega and made his intentions clear to him. He almost dropped him with a Killswitch, but Omega escaped in time.

Omega vs Cage is the biggest match AEW can put on this year, especially if they hope to put on a show to rival WrestleMania. Omega dragged a five-star match out of a 47-year-old Chris Jericho. Wrestling a motivated Cage in the main event of AEW’s biggest show will surely lead to an instant classic.
