Canadian actor Stephen Amell is no stranger to the wrestling world. Over the years, he has appeared in several major wrestling promotions such as WWE, AEW, All In, and more. A huge lifelong wrestling fan, Amell appeared on WWE during the year 2015 and started a rivalry with Cody Rhodes. The rivalry between these two ended in a SummerSlam tag team match where Stephen, with his partner Neville, successfully defeated Cody, aka Stardust, and King Barrett.

Ever since then, Stephen and Cody have kept their connection intact. They became good friends over the years. Stephen, who is currently promoting his upcoming wrestling drama series known as the Heels, revealed his desire to make an in-ring return.

Stephen Amell reveals he has been poking Cody Rhodes for an AEW return

Stephen Amell joined the Busted Open Radio this week and promoted his upcoming series related to wrestling. Amell, throughout the show, spoke about wrestling with great enthusiasm and desire. The actor shed light on the nostalgic wrestling match he had in All In when he faced Christopher Daniels. Even though the result wasn’t in his favor, the actor fondly remembered the match as one of the top moments in his career.

Amell, a lifelong wrestling fan, then talked about returning to the ring at some stage in his career. He said that he wants to return as a wrestler and not as a celebrity wrestler who always has to be the babyface of the story. He also added that he has been poking Cody for this wish. Amell said- “I’d be lying if I hadn’t said that I hadn’t been poking and prodding Cody and stuff like that.”

 “It’s time for me, not just for the show, for the namesake, but just in general its time for me to take a heel turn. I’m sick and tired of just being the celebrity guest spot who’s happy to be there. It’s time for me to take a steel chair and just kick the s**t out of somebody.” said Stephen Amell.

Stephen impressed wrestling fans with his performance

Stephen Amell, who faced Stardust and King Barrett at SummerSlam, did a great job in the ring. Fans, critics, and WWE officials were very impressed with the actor’s performance in the match. In addition, WWE gave a Slammy Award in 2015 to Stephen Amell for the “Celebrity Moment of the Year” for his dive onto Stardust during the bout.

Well, Stephen’s obsession with wrestling is no secret to the public. Fans around the world will still root for the actor if he makes an in-ring return. When viewed in a wrestling angle, his desire for a heel character is justified as the poor guy seems bored playing the babyface. As Cody Rhodes is now working for Tony Khan’s AEW, Stephen could try to return to AEW one day.
