While the Champion was making his way to the ring, an excited fan burst through the stands to meet Moxley. However, the ever-alert backstage security tailed him in full force, and he never managed to get to Moxley.

In a recent interview with Gary Cassidy of Sportskeeda, Jon Moxley spoke about the incident in detail and expressed his thoughts on it.

“I’m glad they caught that on camera. They said they cut away but I was like, ‘Man, you should put that on camera so people know what happens when you try to do something like that,’” says Moxley.

AEW made a big decision by allowing a few fans to watch the event in the stadium itself. Even though it may have been a thought at the back of the mind, no one expected a fan to actually do that.

Jon Moxley praised AEW security’s responsiveness

Jon Moxley thanks Charlie, one of the backstage crew, for effectively handling the situation. He explains how other fans should take the message from this.

“He’s the guy who does just about everything backstage here and he f***ing speared that motherf***er. That was awesome. It startled me for a second, I was like, ‘Oh, what can you do, it’s live TV?’ That’s happened to me several times.”

Moxley went on to defeat MJF and retain his title, reasserting his dominance.

There have been numerous cases in professional wrestling where fans do not stick to rule number one- Do not interfere with the action.

Many extra-passionate fans jump the fence and often go to see their idols, or take a cheap shot at the bad guys they despise.

Many a time, they get kicked or punched by the Superstar, if the security team doesn’t take them out first. However, they do get lifetime bans from the show.

The concern now is more than ever due to the risk of COVID-19 spreading out from anywhere. The fan should have been a lot more thoughtful about this before recklessly attempting to approach Moxley.
