You can’t have an ultra-violent deathmatch without blood. Moxley and Omega bled buckets in this match, but there was a layer of excellent storytelling and innovation to it. From the first explosion to Moxley escaping the One-Winged Angel, every spot meant something which did not render the violence meaningless.

Omega threw sand or powdered glass into Moxley’s eyes, blinding him and allowing Kenny to toss him into the explosives. Moxley’s back met the deadly barbed wire, and the explosion had fans either cringing or shouting at the top of their voices.

Barbed wire-covered weapons made their way out of a garbage can. Omega planted Moxley with a sidewalk slam on a barbed wire covered chair, while Moxley dragged the same chair against Omega’s knee while he locked in the Figure Four Leglock.

Omega brought out a baseball bat wrapped in barbwire, but it later revealed the nasty surprise hidden within it. Kenny struck Moxley with the baseball bat, which exploded on contact.

Finally, the biggest and best spot of the night came when Moxley hit the Paradigm Shift off the apron and through the barbed wire and explosive-laden floor. Moxley peeled himself off the barbed wire in an excruciating visual.

This was a brutal match that will surely divide opinion. It contained unbelievable levels of violence, superb storytelling and innovative spots, the perfect recipe for a brilliant match. Never mind the disappointing ending to the show, the main event was an excellent match.
