AEW Dynamite played host to the Dynamite Diamond Battle Royal. The gimmick was adopted last year in order to get MJF over and has since turned into an entertaining concept. This year’s match featured some of AEW’s most talented wrestlers and ended with a bang.

AEW Dynamite Diamond Battle Royal

The rules for this match are a little different. Instead of the winner being the last man standing, the final two members win the match and will face each other in a singles match for the Dynamite Diamond Ring.

Adam Page was one of the finalists of last year’s battle royal but was eliminated in the middle of the match by Matt Hardy this year. Miro found a new enemy in the Inner Circle and Sammy Guevara. Jungle Boy was in his usual form, running wild and spiking people on their heads.

The closing stretch

The final five wrestlers of the match were Wardlow, Sammy Guevara, MJF, Orange Cassidy and Jungle Boy. Sammy and Jungle Boy exchanged punches on the turnbuckles but MJF tossed them out to eliminate them.

Wardlow realized that Orange Cassidy was laid out on the floor but hadn’t been eliminated. He dragged him in the ring, where Cassidy bravely shoved Wardlow into MJF but Wardlow managed to save MJF from being eliminated. MJF and Wardlow argued, which allowed Cassidy to take advantage and eliminate Wardlow.

Orange Cassidy and MJF to face off next week on AEW Dynamite

Orange Cassidy and last year’s winner MJF head to next week’s Dynamite Diamond match with a point to prove. The Inner Circle will be watching MJF closely and might even interfere to give him the win for the second year in a row.

Orange Cassidy has quickly become AEW’s most dependable talent in 2020. He was over in 2019, but has reached nuclear levels of popularity in 2020. After his wins against Chris Jericho, ‘Freshly Squeezed’ Orange Cassidy has become a made man, destined for gold.

It is tough to predict who will win next week’s match. MJF used the Dynamite Diamond ring to his advantage many times. He even used it to deck Cody Rhodes at AEW Revolution and beat AEW’s ace.

Orange Cassidy’s rise to the AEW midcard can be topped off with a stunning win next week. His losses to Cody have put him out of the title picture, but a win for him will shoot him right back into it.
