AEW announced its arrival to the world with it’s first ever PPV – Double or Nothing in 2019. The PPV set the tone in what is now an annual affair in Tony Khan’s promotion. And one of the major reasons for AEW Double or Nothing 2019’s immense success was the bloody war between Dusty’s sons, Cody and Dustin Rhodes.

In the weeks leading up to DoN 2019, Cody Rhodes revealed he would take on a mystery opponent. After a few weeks of teasing, Cody revealed his brother, Dustin Rhodes fka Goldust in WWE, would be his opponent at the promotion’s first PPV.

Heading into the match, Cody vowed to defeat his brother and ‘kill’ the Attitude Era once and for all. In fact, he even symbolized the fact with his infamous entrance. Either way, both brothers finally came face to face in the ring, and the rest, as they say, was history.

Dustin and Cody Rhodes delivered an epic one on one match that lasted almost half an hour! The match had everything in it from top to bottom – excellent wrestling and even better storytelling.

In fact, the match also saw a lot of blood loss. One can very well consider this match to be one of the bloodiest matches in pro-wrestling history!

The battle was evenly matched, and no one knew who would walk out victorious. Dustin Rhodes looked to take the win with a Final Cut, but Cody showed off his resiliency.

Well, if the little brother would show exemplary grit, then why not the big brother? Dustin, too, showed his resiliency kicking out of Cody’s finisher.

However, the Cross Rhodes is not a soft finisher. It hurts, and it can take out opponents as soon as they hit the mat. Dustin did kick out of one, but he couldn’t kick out of the second Cross Rhodes Cody hit him with, and that was the end.

Both men got a standing ovation, and the crowd roared in unison. Cody cut an emotional promo for his brother and then revealed he had chosen him to be his partner against The Young Bucks at AEW’s next PPV. Both Rhodes Brothers embraced in the ring, and we’re sure Dusty Rhodes was smiling wide from heaven!
