AEW superstar and challenger to Jon Moxley’s AEW World Championship, Eddie Kingston, spoke on Moxley’s former employers. Kingston recently had some criticism for Moxley, regarding the way he conducted himself in WWE.

Back in WWE, Jon Moxley was known as Dean Ambrose, and made his debut in 2012 as a part of the famous group, The Shield. However, Kingston blamed Moxley for not using his popularity to help the indie wrestlers in an interview with TSN.

He also claimed Moxley lost his independent mindset to the business model of WWE. When asked if he would do the same if places swapped, the “Mad King” said he would be fired in three minutes as he would not be able to adjust to the style of WWE.

“No, because knowing me, I would have gotten fired three minutes in if I went when Mox went. Again, this is why I have a little bit of beef with Mox, because he started playing the game. I probably would have, at that point in time and especially at that age and what was going on in my life, gotten fired three minutes in because I wouldn’t bend. I wouldn’t have bent like he did.”

Kingston is now an AEW superstar, and on November 7th at Full Gear, he walks into the match of his life. However, he would have never reached here.

Eddie Kingston almost quit wrestling

Kingston is a veteran in this business, having wrestled for over 18 years. He has had numerous stints with Ring of Honor, TNA, and mainly Chikara.

However, he decided to retire from wrestling after work died down during the COVID-19 Pandemic. In March, Kingston was working with NWA and had to go back home due to working constrictions.

Financial difficulties forced him to sell his wrestling gear to pay his mortgage due to the lack of work outside. However, Kingston revealed his nephew and niece as the reason behind his decision to keep fighting in an interview with New York Post.

“I believe God sent my niece and nephew to me not to stop wrestling because he knew good things were gonna happen.I think probably another month I would have sold the house and moved back to New York and back to my parents’ place until I could get a regular job and, you know, get my own apartment.”

They say there is nothing more dangerous than a wounded tiger. Kingston’s life has been a life of wounds, struggle, and waiting for a breakthrough moment.

He may be 38 years old now, but he has waited his entire life for this day. Will Eddie Kingston will defeat Jon Moxley at Full Gear? We don’t know. But we do know he will give everything he has and pro wrestling fans will surely not want to miss this one.
