AEW owner, Tony Khan, has worked wonders with All Elite Wrestling. He has signed some of the biggest names in pro wrestling and established AEW as the best promotion in America. In terms of quality, they are definitely the best, and for that, they have their incredible roster to thank.
Tony appeared on an episode of the Wade Keller Pro Wrestling podcast, where he discussed the growth of AEW during the pandemic. In the interview, Khan also happened to mention that he’s been in contact with some big names that people do not know about.
“There’s people still debuting on Dynamite and there’s people that are working their way up our roster on Dark that I’m really excited about. Then there’s big names that nobody knows about that I’m talking to. So, I’ve got a lot of aces up my sleeve.”
Khan’s words seem to be building towards the signing of either some independent wrestling stars like Lio Rush or maybe even a former WWE superstar. AEW is also working on forming a working relationship with New Japan Pro Wrestling. This could signal the AEW debut of some top NJPW talent in Jacksonville.
Tony Khan and the Executive Vice Presidents, The Elite, have gone around recruiting some of the biggest independent stars from across the world. While the Young Bucks and Kenny Omega were wildly popular in the US, wrestlers like PAC, CIMA and Japanese sensations like Hikaru Shida and Riho have been AEW’s top stars.
“I’ve been really pleasantly surprised how many great wrestlers we’ve added since we started. We had a great group when we started, then we did a big pay per view right off the bat with Double or Nothing in MGM Grand.”
Double Or Nothing really was the finest PPV of 2019, which signaled the arrival of a brand new force in the pro wrestling business. The Cody vs Dustin Rhodes match, The Young Bucks vs The Lucha Brothers high flying masterclass, and Jon Moxley‘s incredible debut, coalesced perfectly to showcase AEW’s strength to the world.
They proceeded to sign giant names like Matt Hardy, Brodie Lee, Brian Cage and Lance Archer. In spite of the new big names, wrestlers like Darby Allin, Sammy Guevara and Britt Baker have continued to shine in their separate roles. Tony Khan and the rest of the AEW roster have proved that they have the deepest roster, and some of the finest wrestlers to step foot inside a ring.
