The rules of the match weren’t any different from a usual MMA Fight. Only difference was it would have three five minute rounds instead of the usual five rounds. Hager and Wardlow took the first round to set their foot in. Ultimately, Hager went for a takedown, but ‘Mr. Mayhem’ tossed him like a beach ball.

Jake Hager puts Wardlow to sleep on AEW Dynamite

Jake Hager regrouped and went for a takedown again. This time he got the big man down and mounted on him to get some punches in. However, it had little effect on Wardlow as he got of it quickly. The duo then traded blows until Wardlow pulled off an impressive Superman Punch off the cage.

Wardlow got the better of Hager in the first round. Hence, the stakes got even higher for the 2x All-American. Hager wasted little time and got ‘Mr. Mayhem’ into an ankle lock. Although the strong and agile Wardlow got out of it.

Hager went for a kick on Wardlow, but he countered into a powerbomb onto the cage! Following it up with a hurricanrana, the veteran Hager knew what he needed to do and focused on getting Wardlow into a arm triangle hold.

Although Wardlow broke the hold, Hager quickly brought him down with a Uranage. He then continued to apply the arm triangle until The Pinnacle’s muscle eventually passed out. In summary, Jake Hager defeated Wardlow via submission in just the second round of the fight.

Following the match, Shawn Spears jumped Jake Hager and Chris Jericho (who had accompanied him). While Spears kept pounding on Hager, Jericho regrouped and tried to even the odds only to get caught in a double team attack. However, the double team didn’t work long as Jake Hager legitimately evened the odds.

Just as everyone thought it was over, The Pinnacle’s leader MJF came out to the ring. He attacked Chris Jericho, and focused on his injured arm by locking his Salt of the Earth finisher. Eventually, Sammy Guevara and Santana ran to the ring and made the save for their Inner Circle brethren.
