While her wrestling career has been meteoric, Tay Conti has become one of the best wrestlers in the world. Fusing wrestling with her experience as a judoka in Brazil has paid off for the 25-year-old. However, we wonder what her marital status is like, given her personal life is mostly unknown.

Prior to becoming a professional wrestler, Tay Conti trained as a judoka in Brazil and even tried for the 2016 Olympics. Unfortunately, her dream couldn’t come true, but she found another lucrative career. She received a WWE tryout through a fellow Brazilian wrestler and they recruited her immediately.

In an interview with Ring The Belle, Conti talked about her husband for the first time publicly. She even confessed that Conti is her husband’s last name and not hers, as she is Taynara Melo de Carvalho.

She also revealed her husband is half-Italian, hence the last name Conti, which is an Italian surname. Despite the surname being Italian, it is unusually common in her home nation, Brazil.

Jorge Conti, Tay Conti’s husband, is also a judoka and won a bronze medal at the US Open judo tournament in Fort Lauderdale in 2017. We know little about Jorge, although his wedding photographs with Tay are awfully endearing.

Conti comes up short against Hikaru Shida

Since losing in the first round of the AEW Women’s Title Eliminator tournament, Tay Conti has amassed a significant winning streak. She started off with wins against jobbers on AEW Dark and Dark: Elevation.

Then, she beat Nyla Rose in an AEW Dynamite classic. Conti even picked up a big win against the Bunny, which put her #1 on the women’s ranking system.

Shida and Conti had a perfect match that’ll go down as Shida’s best title defense. She’s faced the likes of Nyle Rose, Thunder Rosa, Penelope Ford, Big Swole, Anna Jay, Abadon and Ryu Mizunami, but no one pushed her further than Tay Conti.

Despite her judo throws, pump kicks to the face and a really swell Tay-KO to the face, she couldn’t put the brave champion away. Shida relied on her resilience, power, and speed to put Tay away.

It took a brainbuster to the floor, a Falcon Arrow, a backbreaker on the top turnbuckle and devastating knee strike to the skull called the Katana to put Conti away.
