Chris Jericho has adapted well to the role of the gatekeeper of AEW. The veteran has assembled a career worthy of being called the greatest of all time. Right now, Jericho’s sole focus is the upliftment of AEW as the best wrestling promotion in the world. Jericho’s part is huge, but so are the parts played by a plethora of younger talent.

Chris Jericho calls Jungle Boy the next big superstar

In an interview with Dax Holt and Adam Glyn of Hollywood Raw, the former AEW Champion revealed the next big superstar in AEW. That honour goes to none other than Jungle Boy. The high-flying, dinosaur-riding youngster is one of AEW’s fastest rising superstars, and a wrestler AEW would love to build their brand around.
Chris Jericho has faced Jungle Boy in the past, with their match going to a time limit draw. Despite the bizarre stipulation of a ten-minute time limit, the pair put on a stellar outing. It is no wonder Jericho chose the man who he could not beat as the next big thing in AEW. Y2J has victories over Kenny Omega, Hangman Page, Orange Cassidy and Cody Rhodes, but not Jungle Boy.
On AEW Dynamite, Jungle Boy picked up a big win against FTR’s Dax Harwood in a magnificent match. Jungle Boy’s high flying offence and Harwood’s wrestling acumen and brute strength created the perfect clash of styles. After a breathless fifteen minutes of action, Jungle Boy trapped Harwood in a modified Snare Trap, forcing him to submit.
After his win against Harwood, the sky’s the limit for the son of the late Luke Perry. AEW might regret keeping him in the tag division for too long. Instead, they should allow him to spread his wings and embark on the solo run that will lead him to championship gold.

Will Jungle Boy win a championship in 2021?

With his 2021 starting with a bang, it is safe to assume Jungle Boy is going to have a big year. However, a year in wrestling cannot reach optimum levels of success unless you win a championship.
As for Jungle Boy, 2021 might be the year he wins his first major championship in wrestling. The AEW World Championship might be out of his reach for now, but the TNT Championship surely is.
A rivalry with Chris Jericho would serve as the platform for him to challenge for Darby Allin’s title. Similar to pushes received by Orange Cassidy and Rey Fenix, Jungle Boy also deserves his moment in the main event of Dynamite.
