Earlier this week, five-time world champion and 2019 defending champion Lewis Hamilton had declared that he’ll try his best to win the Chinese Grand Prix. Not that winning isn’t Lewis’ habit anyways; the legendary Briton wanted to clinch the landmark contest at Shanghai.

For sure, die-hard fans and racing aficionados needn’t be told what’s special about the 2019 Chinese Grand Prix.

Round three of this brand new F1 season is, of course, Formula 1’s 1000th F1 race. But it appears that not all’s well with Lewis Hamilton’s Mercedes.

So here’s what’s exactly happened and in fact, this piece of news was even shared on Formula 1‘s own website.

Apparently, a candid Lewis Hamilton shared a few hours before the start of the second practice session on Friday, 12 April 2019 that, “I don’t know what the hell is wrong with my car.”

For starters, for someone who’s so used to being at the very front of the grid, a fact highlighted by Lewis’ remarkable tally of 84 poles, it can be said, the Briton wasn’t a happy man on Friday.

After he finished fourth on the second practice run, he happened to have shared with the media that he wasn’t quite sure as to what was happening to his car.

Not that the qualifying is over and Hamilton has failed to secure a strong position. Saturday could well bring out something exciting and hopefully much more positive than a rather sedate Friday practise run for the 2018 World Champion.

Right?

But interestingly, the 2019 Chinese Grand Prix will most certainly be an interesting occasion for a man who first won a title in 2008.

After all, Lewis Hamilton has won here in Shanghai on 5 separate occasions. But what can this remarkable driver manage on Sunday- it remains to be seen. But before that, perhaps what won’t make Lewis break into a smile would be the fact that he had finished seventh-tenths of a second off his Finnish teammate, Valtteri Bottas.

Things didn’t particularly seem all that sweet for Hamilton, who, the F1 official website said, was left ‘scratching his head.’

Here’s more on the matter:

“I was struggling with the car today, so we’ve got work to do, particularly on my side as Valtteri looked much more comfortable in the car. We’re going to work hard tonight to find some tweaks and hopefully come back stronger tomorrow; the car has the pace in it to compete at the front, we just need to find the right set-up.”

For now, let’s see what happens on the all-important Saturday.
