The finalist at Rolex Shanghai Masters 2019, Alexander Zverev was asked whether Daniil Medvedev bored him during Shanghai’s final match as on Saturday, Stefanos Tsitsipas stated that “it’s just boring” to play against Medvedev.

On the contrary, Alexander Zverev had an answer which was poles apart from Tsitsipas’ response. Germany’s Number One tennis player replied, “they (Medvedev and Tsitsipas) have a weird relationship. I have a very good relationship with Daniil since we were kids. I’m having a good relation with Stefanos since the Laver Cup. Whatever they have I’m not getting involved. He’s not boring to me.”

Before Sunday’s final, Sascha was undefeated against Medvedev and all his victories were accomplished during the years 2016 to 2018. However, in 2019, Medvedev uplifted his level of tennis and has established an unparalleled niche in the sport.

“He’s a different player. To beat these kinds of players you have to have a lot of confidence and be playing good for a long period of time and not just one week,” Alexander Zverev added as Medvedev opened his victory account against the German.

Sascha further highlighted Medvedev’s phenomenal run on the ATP circuit this year and he mentioned him playing clutch tennis at big moments of the match, and Medvedev is a big point player. The Russian just needs to encounter a break point during the match and later takes a lead instantaneously.

“Confidence was a big factor today. He’s way way more confident in the big moments right now. He has been to 6 finals in a row. He’s more used to it. My last final was in Geneva. That’s a big difference,” Zverev mentioned.
