Alexander Zverev Violates Social Distancing Rules Amid Coronavirus Crisis

World No.7 Alexander Zverev has been accused of violating the rules set out to combat the coronavirus pandemic. The German star is facing criticism for taking a controversial photo with a fan while practicing social distancing.

Zverev has been staying in Florida with his brother Mischa Zverev since the cancellation of Indian Wells Masters 2020 due to the outbreak of coronavirus.

According to Ubitennis, the German is managing to train at the nearby Saddlebrook Tennis Academy under certain guidelines. However, the renowned tennis center put the 22-year-old in the bad light.

The academy posted a photo on their Instagram account of him standing next to a young player. Subsequently, Zverev attracted a lot of criticism to not follow the social distancing guidelines. Consequently, the academy deleted the photo. Zverev is yet given any comments on his wrongdoing.

“Even though the tennis season has been postponed, the grinding has not! Alex Zverev and students making the most of their time on the court while they can,” the caption read.

The Florida state has reported over 16,323 positive cases of the coronavirus along with 371 casualties.  Last week, the Governor of Florida had announced a statewide lockdown due to a rapid increase in the positive cases.

It is far from certain that the tennis season will resume soon as the COVID-19 continues to rapidly spread around the globe. Although Zverev might be following all the protocols to prevent himself from getting infected.

However, celebrities should set an example for their followers to stay indoors in order to stop the chain of the virus. We hope that the human race strictly follows the rules and maintain social distancing in order to combat the coronavirus.
