American tennis player Jennifer Brady took the world by surprise after she made it to her first Grand Slam final at the Australian Open 2021. Prior to this Grand Slam event, she had beat former World No. 1 Angelique Kerber at the US Open 2020. She went as far as to reach the semifinal in New York that season.

After her semifinal win over Karolina Muchova today, the 25-year-old player reached her first Major final. She beat a player that knocked out the World No. 1 Ashleigh Barty yesterday, which makes everyone even more curious about the World No. 24 Brady.

Jennifer was born on April 12, 1995. She began playing tennis at the age of 7 and is currently coached by Michael Geserer. She played for the University of California. Her favorite Grand Slam event is the Australian Open and her preferred surface is clay.

Brady’s professional career

Between 2014-2016, Brady played tournaments on the ITF Women’s Circuit. She enjoyed a fair bit of success, winning four singles titles and five in doubles. Brady played her first main draw event at the Challenger Trophy at the Carlsbad Classic.

In 2017, Brady played at the Australian Open, her first Grand Slam event, after winning all qualifying round matches. Last season, the American player showed promising signs when she beat Maria Sharapova and Ashleigh Barty at the Brisbane Open. Later at the US Open, she beat former Grand Slam winner Angelique Kerber, which helped her reach the semifinal of a Major.

Australian Open success

Brady began her journey this season in Melbourne, registering an opening-round win against Aliana Bolsova. During the course of the event, she beat Croatia’s Donna Vekic in the fourth round. After winning her semifinal match against Karolina Muchova today, she booked a spot in the final on Saturday where she will take on Naomi Osaka.
