

Amanda Anisimova will officially begin working with legendary coach Carlos Rodriguez from the China Open 2019. According to sources, Rodriguez has comfirmed that he will travel with Anisimova full-time.
Rodriguez is known primarily for coaching Justine Henin for over 15 years and guiding the Belgian to seven Grand Slam titles, but he also spent three seasons with Li Na, when the Chinese legend secured her second major title.

Earlier in 2014, Li Na had praised Rodrigues for not being stressful and showing confidence in her. She said, “When I started working with him, I realised he was more cool. He’s not stressful. So I felt I need a coach like him.”
She further added, “Every day he would say, ‘Believe in yourself, believe in yourself’. But if I was really doing something wrong, he would say. ‘This is wrong, you have to change’. But the most important thing is, working with him for one-and-a-half, two years, he didn’t tell me what to do. He would say, ‘You have to play yourself. You have to know yourself what you should do.”

Amanda Anisimova, the 18-year-old American reached the semifinals of the French Open 2019 and is certainly one of the promising talent on the WTA tour. Earlier, Anisimova was coached by her father Konstantin, who had suddenly passed away in August this year.
Anisimova was also working with a Colombian coach named Jaime Cortés. She won her first career title back in April, in his native land, at the WTA Tour event in Bogotá.

The American missed the US Open 2019 due to her father’s death but returned to action last week at the Wuhan Open 2019, where she lost to Karolina Pliskova in the second round, after defeating Samantha Stosur in the first round.
She now heads to the China Open 2019, where she will take on her compatriot Jennifer Brady in the first round. She is also scheduled to play the 2019 Tianjin Open next week.
