The Wimbledon Championships are soon about to begin and players have begun practicing on the grass courts. The third Grand Slam event in the calendar year is considered the most prestigious amongst the four global events. There has been an update with regard to the Wimbledon Championships 2021, featuring Andy Murray and Venus Williams. 

Not long ago, it was announced that two-time champion Murray and five-time champion Williams have received wild cards for the upcoming Wimbledon Championships 2021. It comes as a positive development as the two athletes have created history and have a legacy at the All England Lawn Tennis & Croquet Club.

Andy Murray and Venus Williams will be joined by exciting youngsters 

Revealing more details, joining Murray and Williams is the Spanish teenage sensation Carlos Alcaraz, who has received a wild card too. Besides, British player Katie Boulter is also on the list of wild card entrants. It comes as positive news as these players have shown real potential and played some top-quality tennis recently.

At the moment, Murray is playing at the Queen’s event in London and has been looking forward to competing at the grass-court events. He will be facing Matteo Berrettini in the next round tomorrow. Prior to that, he was last seen practicing in Rome with World No. 1 Novak Djokovic, and had taken part in the doubles event there.

Coming back to the Wimbledon Championships 2021, the event is scheduled to begin from the 28th of June and will end by the 11th of July. The course of two weeks will display some of the best tennis produced in the calendar year. All the top players across the men’s and women’s take part in this competition.

It will be interesting to see how players perform in South West London as the competition returns back after two years. The tournament was canceled last year due to the global pandemic.
