It is an exciting time for Among Us players. The makers have announced a new map for the game that is all set to arrive on March 31, 2021. Making things even better, players will be entitled to a few free hats along with the update. It is unclear which hats would be given out for free, but the angry eyebrows are confirmed as of now.

The news was shared on the game’s Twitter handle.

The new update also brings in new abilities for the players to test out. Now, players can choose which room to start in and there is also a basic account system for moderation. This will ensure the safety of everyone who plays the game with a dedicated report button.

The makers have also added ladders which should be fun to play around.

“This free update will have all new tasks, the ability to pick the room you start in, ladders, a basic account system for moderation and more,” the developer wrote in a blog post.

The big change for Among Us

The developers also acknowledged that they did not expect their game to reach such immense heights of popularity; however, the year 2020 completely changed their perspective.

Ironically, the pandemic played a huge role in helping the game out. And soon enough, Among Us was among the most played games, thriving as a multiplayer.

“Among Us’ popularity was something no one expected, and quite late into 2020 too. We had already considered the game done and had moved onto something else. And while it may seem odd things took a few months, it’s quite normal in game development, especially for a team of our size.”

The devs also mentioned how developing an update isn’t as easy as it sounds. Being a cross-platform title, they need to get things to perfection before launch.

Among Us launched back in 2018 with a single map. It has been years since the game introduced a new map. The Airship will be the fourth official map in the game, and it does look exciting.

Among Us is available to play for PC, Mobile and Nintendo Switch. It’ll arrive on the Xbox consoles later this year.
