His perfect plan is almost successful as he needed just another second to sabotage again. However, by that time someone reports a body and he misses out on his chance.

Unable to fully execute his master plan, Courage has to rely on his wits. He somehow manages to evade suspicion and stay safe. As soon as the game resumes, he finishes it off with a kill.

Courage chose a perfect central spot to hide, especially when the lights were out. He could easily see people crossing and chose his targets accordingly. Also, the rooms are far apart, which means crewmates would take a few extra seconds to navigate. Thus, Jack put all of this together to get a 200 IQ win.
