Ana Ivanovic Lauds Iga Swiatek For Her Mindboggling Run at French Open 2020

19-year-old Iga Swiatek has recently been on most of the headlines. She defeated 2-time Grand Slam winner and Italian open 2020 champion Simona Halep in straight sets in the fourth round of French Open 2020. The World No. 54 is one of the semi-finalists of the tournament. The young sensation has impressed many tennis legends with her game. The latest to join the list is former World No.1 Ana Ivanovic.
Ivanovic was all praises for the Swiatek, as her performance really thrilled her. Speaking about the current events taking place in Paris, she admitted that Swiatek was one of the great finds of the tournament.

“We have seen lots of new faces going far this year so far in the French Open. On the women’s side, it is Iga Swiatek who defeated Simona Halep,” Ivanovic told Tennis Channel.
Swiatek is even in the quarter-finals of Roland Garros 2020, along with Nicole Melichar in Women’s Doubles. The match is today and she will certainly be looking forward to playing another semi-final in the same tournament.

‘She is in great form’- Ana Ivanovic on Iga Swiatek
Ivanovic didn’t just stop here but also agreed that the 19-year-old Polish player has exhibited some brilliant skills too.
“She is in great form. That is really cool. I think it’s nice for the viewers to see new faces and watch good tennis,” said the 2008 French open winner.

The former World No.1 also talked about some newly emerging men’s tennis players who could have a bright future.

“One of them is Jannik Sinner, who has played really well. Another one that I noticed is Sebastian Korda. I think he has a bright future as well,” remarked the 32-year-old.
In the same bite with the Tennis Channel, Ivanovic also addressed the many upsets taking place in Paris this year.
“I think it is due to the heavier conditions this year. Another thing that can affect the result is the situation with the spectators. Some players like the fact there are so many people,” concluded Ivanovic.

Sparse crowds can be a problem for few. But it is definitely not an issue for Iga Swiatek. She will next face Nadia Podoroska, who recently became the first qualifier to reach the semis after defeating Elina Svitolina, in the semi-finals of the French Open 2020. It will be worth watching who cements a place in the final.
