Ana Ivanovic Sends Wishes to Victoria Azarenka and Pablo Badosa As She Reminisces Her Indian Wells 2008 Win

Former World No. 1 Ana Ivanovic has been one of the most prominent tennis players on the WTA tour in recent memory. During her spell as a player, she won a handful of titles. Besides her French Open title in 2008, her next biggest achievement was winning the Indian Wells tournament in 2008. 

Ivanovic has been keeping a close eye on the Indian Wells tournament this season. She took to Twitter to wish the 2021 Indian Wells finalists, Paula Badosa and Victoria Azarenka, and reminisce about her own triumph in the desert.

The 33-year-old former player put up a post on social media, wishing the finalists to give their best and to believe in themselves that they can do wonders in this sport. Ivanovic stated, “Achieve your goals by consistently believing in yourself and never losing your motivation. I always like to think back on moments like this one 13 years ago at Indian Wells. The best of luck to all finalists this weekend!”

Ana Ivanovic beat top-ranked players for Californian success

During her run in 2018, Ivanovic beat players like compatriot Jelena Jankovic and Russian tennis star Svetlana Kuznetsova in the semifinal and final, respectively.

Reflecting on the current season, Spanish tennis player Paula Badosa will be taking on Belarusian star Victoria Azarenka in the final. On the ATP tour, Taylor Fritz will be up against Nikoloz Basilashvili in the semifinal. In the second semifinal, Grigor Dimitrov will be facing Cameron Norrie.

It will be interesting to see who emerges on top as the winner. None of these players have ever managed to win this event. Therefore, it will be a momentous occasion to be the winner of this tournament.
