However, this same mastery of the game has recently landed the former Orlando Magic star in trouble.

It is not very uncommon among NBA stars to face ejection while playing the game. Despite retiring from the hardwood, JJ Redick now got ejected from a game. The NBA veteran channelized the analyst in him and questioned a call during his son’s youth basketball game, only to get ejected by the official.

JJ Redick explains a bizarre experience that he recently had

JJ Redick was coaching his 8-year-old son’s youth basketball game in New Jersey. As the game was reaching an end, the NBA veteran channelized both the ballplayer and the parent inside him. It is not unheard of for NBA players to question the official’s judgement. Redick, however, has now questioned an official who judged in favor of his son’s opponents. The official had called a travel against one of Redick’s kids. Later, as Redick observed, another boy had also travelled. But the referee did not call a travel.

Redick was quick to bring this issue up with the referee. ““I said to the ref, ‘Are you seriously not going to call a travel when you just called a travel on one of my kids?’ And he teed me up for that. That’s all I said. And as I was walking away, I just give him, you know, my sarcastic, ‘Are you serious?’ And he tossed me for that,” JJ Redick told Jamal Crawford in a recent episode of The Old Man and the Three podcast.

An apology followed the ejection

Though the ace three-point shooter had to face flak from the official of his son’s game, the official later apologized to the former Magic star. However, the referee felt sorry only after realizing who Redick really was. Besides, in a report by Total Pro Sports, it has been said that the official made an indirect apology.
