Barcelona has fired their sporting director Andoni Zubizarreta in the middle of the contract.
The 53 year old, had represented the club for 8 years from 1986-1994 as a player and was appointed as sporting director, 4 years ago, in 2010.

His position, as a director, was under constant threat due to recent struggle of the club both on and off field matters. Zubizarreta’s position however was to be reviewed on Wednesday’s board meeting. Nevertheless, the president of the club Josep Maria Bartomeou has taken the action with immediate effect.
