Andy Murray, who is set to feature at the Brisbane Open in January, has had a tough 2018 and is hoping that 2019 would prove to be much more fruitful. Andy Murray’s mother Judy Murray believes that his son is a fighter and relishes all the things that come with the spotlight. In an exclusive interview with tennis365.com, she spoke about how she knew that Andy Murray would be one of the best guys on the tour.

“Having a talent is one thing, but you need someone to spot that talent, nurture it and see if they can take it to another level. After that, it’s all about hard work”, said Judy Murray.

“It is bringing the right attitude to the court, enjoying the pain and that is what my son Andy(Murray) has done down the years”, said Judy Murray. “The heat, the tough conditions are a challenge, especially if you come from a country like Scotland, where the climate is generally much colder”, she continued. “Not everyone can deal with it, but Andy relishes the challenge and that is one of the reasons why he has enjoyed so much success.”

Judy Murray also suggested that she felt that if a kid is not ready by a very early age, for all the struggles that tennis brings with it, it would be a very difficult career decision for the player. “You need someone at 15 or 16 who is ready to get something that is largely a hobby and do that every day, with real commitment. Not everyone wants to do that,” Judy Murray pointed out.

Andy Murray, is expected to be fully fit, when he starts off his 2019 campaign next week at the Brisbane Open.
