Former World Number one, Andy Murray dealt with the toughest period of his sporting career after Wimbledon 2017 and that was caused by his hip injury. The Brit’s family effected pertaining to his injury issues.

Although the three-time Grand Slam champion, Murray was supported unconditionally by them, he feels he was ‘selfish’ at that time and neglected his thoughts about his near and dear ones.

“It put a lot of strain on our relationship, just because I was down all the time. She has been brilliant and I would probably be quite selfish, just in terms of thinking about myself and how I’m feeling all the time and not actually realizing the impact that has on all the people around me,” he added.

He opened upon his state of mind during that resentful period of his tennis tour. “I was pretty down, that’s for sure. It was a really tough period for me because it wasn’t so much the actual injury itself. Being injured can be frustrating, but the issue that I had was with me every single day, sleeping and waking. It wasn’t just I hit a serve and my arm hurt. This woke me up at night. It was bad,” said Andy Murray.

“When everyone was trying to encourage me to keep going and keep trying and keep playing, I was, like, ‘You don’t know what it’s like. You don’t know what it is that I’m feeling’. People say it all the time, but for me, this was genuinely life-changing for all sorts of reasons, not just to play tennis, but when I’m crawling through a tunnel in soft play with my children, or just getting down on the floor to play and roll around with them,” Murray said.

However, after a long miserable period of injury hiatus, the bumpy drive led to a victories destination. The Brit was back to winning ways at European Open 2019 finals, as the World Number 126, Andy Murray defeated Stan Wawrinka in a phenomenal manner and he pulled off his first title in two years. Presently, he is representing Great Britain at the Davis Cup Finals 2019 in Madrid, Spain.
