However, the Brit was back on the court as a singles player last week at the Western and Southern Open 2019 for the first time since having a metal plate inserted into his hip joint during a surgery that saved his career in January 2019.

Andy Murray continues his singles return at the Winston-Salem Open this week as he aims to build up his fitness on a singles court. On Sunday, the 3-time Grand Slam champion practiced with Andrey Rublev, who was one of the first to encourage Murray after the Australian Open.

The 32-year-old suggested in an interview at Winston-Salem that the tennis world has been pouring love for him since his emotional press conference at the Australian Open 2019 when the Scott revealed that he is not sure about playing tennis again after undergoing surgery on his hip. However, Andy Murray is back on the ATP Tour but still, the love has not wobbled.

Andy Murray divulged how people were motivating him after the Australian Open. He said, “Even when I was walking down the street post-Australia, people were telling me to keep going and keep fighting and keep trying.”

Andy Murray also disclosed that Andrey Rublev was one of the first people to encourage him to keep trying, even though Murray didn’t know him very well. The Scott is certainly delighted to have moments like these in the past few months.

He continued and said, “After I spoke in Australia, Rublev was one of the first guys I bumped into in the locker room. I didn’t even know him that well, but he gave me a huge hug and told me to keep trying. There have been more moments like that over the past six months than before.”
