Andy Murray Skeptical About Playing Four Matches in a Week

The Brit, Andy Murray claimed his first consecutive victory since returning from his hip surgery this year and crashed into the top-300 rankings. At an ATP 500 event, most of the elite tennis professionals take part and Murray is a bit skeptical about playing back to back matches at his highest level.

However, the former World Number one, Murray is optimistic about getting back to play high-level tennis by encountering some challenging tennis matches. He believes that more and more matches like the one which he played today would assist him to reach his past niche quicker.

“In terms of actually my game, last week was a big step for me. Now I just need to try and get the matches, get them consistently, so that I’m used to playing three, four matches in a week. Right now, at this level, I don’t know if I’m ready to do that or not. So the more I can get through these sorts of matches like I did today, I’ll get there a little bit quicker,” Andy Murray said.

On Wednesday, Murray was pretty dominant with his serves. Some relentless hitting was witnessed from Murray’s end against Cameron Norrie. On Tuesday, he attained his biggest win in the past few months by knocking down World Number 13, Matteo Berrettini

Former World Number one, Murray defeated his countryman, Cameron Norrie 7-6, 6-7, 6-1 and reached the quarterfinals of the China Open 2019. Up next, he will take on the victor of home favorite Zhizen Zhang and top-seed, Dominic Thiem.

Meanwhile, on the other courts of Beijing, the fourth seed, Karen Khachanov defeated Jeremy Chardy 7-6, 7-6. Both of them did not drop a single service. The sixth seed, Fabio Fognini is through the quarterfinals by knocking down the Russian, Andrey Rublev.
