Angelique Kerber has not been having the best of seasons in 2019. The German veteran had attached her wagon to countryman Rainer Schuttler earlier this year. However after failing to defend her title at the Wimbledon Championships earlier this year, she parted ways with him.
Kerber was knocked out of the Wimbledon Championships 2019 in the second round by a lucky loser Lauren Davis. This prompted her to come into the US Open without any coach, which showed its effects as Kerber was knocked out in the very first round, by doubles specialist Kiki Mladenovic.

Kerber has had a win loss record of 25-14 in 2019 and for a player who had started the year as the world number 2, the numbers do not look good. Angelique Kerber has now slid to number 17 on the WTA singles rankings, and looks most likely to miss out on the WTA finals.
