On how she will know when is the right time to bring the curtains down on her career, the German simply said she will listen to her heart.

“Of course, I also thought about it (retirement) during the Corona period, and learned to appreciate life outside of the Tour,” Kerber said.

She added that the retirement thoughts are still there.

“The thoughts are there of course. But I fully trust my heart and my feelings,” the German said.

The 2018 Wimbledon champion dropped down the WTA singles rankings due to her pandemic-enforced absence from tennis and finished the 2020 season at Number 25.

Kerber failed to land a Grand Slam title this year
