With the Fall update going live last week, Halloween season has taken over Animal Crossing: New Horizons. Thanks to the update, pumpkin crafting materials became available to farm and harvest. Players can use these pumpkins to craft and customize a collection of Halloween-themed items known as the Spooky Set.

As most may know, there are 17 different spooky items. Among them, there are several that players can purchase from Nook’s Cranny and learn and craft through DIY recipes obtained from villagers. However, some items and recipes from the Spooky Set are exclusive to the Halloween event on October 31 and will require candy to obtain.

How to get more Halloween candy in Animal Crossing: New Horizons?

For starters, players can buy candy from Nook’s Cranny for 120 Bells each. Unfortunately, Timmy and Tommy will only sell one candy per customer every day. The big night is still a few weeks away, meaning players will have many chances to buy candy leading up to October 31. However, given how randomly things are available in the game, maximizing candy collection is the best way to ensure one gets all the Spooky Set items.

Apart from buying candy at their own island, players can travel to a friend’s island from Dodo Airlines to shop for candy at the Nook’s Cranny over there. Just like in one’s own Nook’s Cranny, they’ll be able to buy a single candy each day.

Another way to secure extra candy is to set up a second player, if one hasn’t already, and using them to buy candy at Nook’s Cranny. Each island resident can buy their own candy daily and then drop it somewhere outside for the main player to collect.

Other than that, players can get additional candy from villagers. Players have to wear a Halloween costume and visit their villagers on the day of Halloween. Villagers will share their candy if impressed with the costume. Moreover, upon giving Jack candy on October 31, he will reward players with his outfit’s replica.

Having obtained this outfit, players can dress up as Jack and trick the unsuspecting villagers into handing over their candy. It is important to note that players can only scare each villager once while wearing Jack’s outfit.

Lollipops are Jack’s favorite candy

While there are several ways to obtain candy until Halloween, there is another type of candy players will need, called lollipops. Lollipops are Jack’s candy, and it is what players need to give him in return for the Spooky Set items exclusive to him.

To collect lollipops, players will have to give their candy to villagers on Halloween. In return for the candy, villagers will either give a random spooky item, a spooky DIY recipe, or a lollipop. This seems the only possible way to obtain lollipops. Therefore, going to the Halloween event with as much candy as one can is a good idea.

Some of the Spooky Set items exclusive to villagers include Spooky Flooring, Spooky Rug, Spooky Wall, Spooky Garland (or recipe), and Spooky Table Set (or recipe). Meanwhile, the Spooky Set items exclusive to Jack include Spooky Wand and Spooky Carriage (or recipe).

There is a range of spooky items and DIY recipes available only during the event. Given how randomly most of these items will be awarded, it is difficult to estimate the total amount of candy required. However, players will need 3 lollipops for Jack. One each for the wand, carriage, and its recipe. The grand occasion is still a while away, and ACNH players have enough time to collect an ample amount of candy.
