Obon Festival, a new seasonal event arriving in Animal Crossing: New Horizons
The Obon festival is a Japanese festival, and it celebrates the return of ancestor’s spirits to the living world. According to the Japanese tradition, people attach chopsticks to their eggplants and cucumbers as a set of legs. It’s used to act as an anchor for the spirits to return to the physical world.

Thus, Nintendo is trying to rejuvenate Japanese players by getting their hands on new Obon festival theme items. Most importantly, players from all around the world can also know the Japanese culture.

From August 10 to August 16, special goods will appear in the Nook Shopping Special Goods section. Players can purchase them for 500 bells each and there will be two items. Only one of these items will appear per day, so they will have to return on two different days to collect them both.
Players can get their hands on two items, namely a Cucumber horse and Eggplant cow. It’s good to see how Nintendo is focusing on veterans and is trying to light up their moods by introducing new seasonal events. These events are motivating players to login back to New Horizons and play daily.
