The winter update trailer for Animal Crossing: New Horizons that came out in November last year left an Easter egg for fans. It teased a future update to come in late January 2021. The teaser included an image of Pavé, a character from previous Animal Crossing games which led to fans concluding that he will arrive in New Horizons in the January update to host the ‘Festivale’ Event.

With just a week remaining till the end of January, the update might arrive any day now. As the update is around the corner, data miners have been busy finding any clues they can. With their help, Mayor Mori on YouTube has compiled some major content updates coming to the game.

According to files that data miners have found, two of these probable changes might be something fans have seen in previous games. Accompanying them will also be some quality of life changes to improve the in-game experience of players.

Villagers might finally visit your homes in Animal Crossing: New Horizons as you show off some ceiling furniture

An interesting feature of previous Animal Crossing games allowed villagers to visit the houses of players. However, when Animal Crossing: New Horizons came out, fans were disappointed. The only two locations where players can interact with their villagers are either their homes or outside on the island.

The January update changes that as New Horizons players can now also have villagers visit their homes. Data miners were able to locate some unused dialogues in the files that point towards this significant update.

The second change is also something fans of the franchise have seen in previous games. According to data miners, there are certain game files that point towards items that players can use to decorate their ceilings. This isn’t an option currently available to New Horizons players, but they can soon experience it.

Every major Animal Crossing: New Horizons update also comes with various quality of life changes. These are fairly easy to predict, as they are usually based on community feedback. Since the last update, players have constantly asked to be able to buy multiple clothes from the shop, which could be one of the upcoming changes.
