Scottish actor James McAvoy recently revealed his love for gaming and his experience playing titles like Warzone and FIFA. He recently worked with Star Wars actor Daisy Ridley on Twelve Minutes, an adventure game published by Annapurna Studios. The game requires players to solve a mystery in a small apartment by repeatedly playing 12 minute cycle events.

McAvoy had a hard time curbing his gaming addiction during the early stages of his career. His love for the fantasy RPG genre almost caused him to lose his acting career. He left before it consumed him, and he didn’t play video games for a long time. However, he has recently picked it up, and now he plays with his friends and family as a great way to spend time during the pandemic.

McAvoy recently gave an interview with Forbes to talk about his latest venture in Twelve Minutes. During the talk, he narrated his experiences of becoming an Elder Scrolls addict, which almost caused him to lose his career. However, he then explained the hilarious solution to remove this addiction, which involved burning the Xbox 360 disc of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion.

He then stated that he returned to playing video games with his young son after a decade long break from gaming. He mentioned that he loved playing in consoles, and he now plays Call of Duty: Warzone with his forty-year-old friends. McAvoy later talked about how his friends discuss stuff about life and love while receiving a beat down from talented young players on Verdansk.

“During the pandemic, me and my boys, we’re all 40-something dudes with gray hair, bald spots, and all sorts of s***. We now talk every two or three nights, playing Warzone and we talk about life, love, everything while getting absolutely annihilated by 12-year-old children from other countries.

Spending time with loved ones through gaming

McAvoy also explained how gaming has helped him connect with people during the pandemic. The COVID-19 virus has caused a lot of people to sit inside their homes during lockdowns. This has caused them to take up old hobbies like gaming on consoles from different manufacturers. McAvoy explained how the pandemic has been a blessing in disguise, as gaming has allowed him to spend more time with his friends and family than ever before.

“It’s been a bit of a lifesaver during the pandemic when we couldn’t hang out. We’ve been actually spending way more time than we ever did before the pandemic. It’s been amazing.”

In the end, it seems like the Professor X actor is having a blast playing Call of Duty and FIFA with his loved ones. Although he isn’t invested as he once was, it’s still cool to see an actor of such caliber dropping on Verdansk shouting out calls trying to win Battle Royale games. It just shows how gaming has the power to attract people from all walks of life.
