After retiring in 2017, Anthony Johnson is rumored to make a return to the sport sometime this year. He has been posting his weight details for the past few months on social media. He is keeping everyone in the loop, regarding the divisions he is targeting.

Johnson previously used to fight in the middleweight division he also had a run in the welterweight category. Looking at things and how it stands right now, everyone made the assumption that he would for sure not be able to make a comeback to the 170lbs, but they’re still eager to have him back!

Taking all this in, Johnson posted on his Instagram a photo of his progress and captioned it, ”Going back down to 170lbs.” This light-hearted joke was well received. He currently stands at 231 as per his last update. And the one prior to this had him at 236. He was obviously joking about the 60lbs drop to 170.

But 205lbs seems well with his limits. It is an achievable target and will have him contending at the light heavyweight division or maybe the heavyweight division.

This lays down plenty of exciting fights in the making. Looking at Jon Jones’ desire to leave the light heavyweight title vacant, this would be Johnson’s fastest route to UFC gold. So if he makes a comeback, a fight against Thiago Santos or Anthony Smith seems the most likely.
