

Cross-play can be quite a controversial topic in the gaming industry. Some are all for it, others not so much. Developers at Respawn Entertainment have hinted at getting ready to work on introducing cross-play in Apex Legends going forward.

The eternal question in gaming, PlayStation, Xbox or PC, plays a huge part in this. Everyone has their own liking. Even friends have a tough time agreeing on this, and oftentimes, they will opt for different platforms. The only problem is, not all games are crossplay enabled.

“We’d love to do that” – Apex Legends developer
Apex Legends ranks as one of the most popular online battle royale games of today. It reached 50 million active players in March of 2019, which increased to 70 million+ by October 2019.
Multiplayer gaming and crossplay often go hand-in-hand these days. Other popular titles from the same genre like Call of Duty and Fortnite have the feature since release, but, surprisingly, Apex Legends is not one of them.

That could very well change in the future, as hinted at by developers from Respawn Entertainment, in a recent interview for a Game Informer magazine.

“I think on crossplay we see it’s something that is kind of expected in the industry and is important to a game like ours. We are obviously big fans of playing our game, at work and in our free time, and we go home on a Friday or weekend and want to play with each other and we’re on different systems. On a personal level, yes, we’d love to do that and party up on the weekends. I think it’s an important thing to get to.”

Looks like we could soon be playing Apex Legends with our buddies from different platforms. It could very well increase it’s monthly numbers further as well.
