Last season, fans were hopeful of a new weapon but never received one. However, this time around, a new energy-based weapon has become available with Season 6.

The Volt SMG has only added to the wide variety of powerful weapons that already exist in Apex Legends. Apart from the latest addition, multiple weapons received tweaks as well. While each weapon is unique in its own way, some are genuinely better than the rest. Let’s take a look at the ones that can be a valuable asset in a player’s quest to become the champion.

Thanks to an insightful YouTube video by The Gaming Merchant, there is now a definitive list of the best weapons in the new season. Here are the top 10 weapons in Apex Legends Season 6.

Top 10 Weapons in Apex Legends Season 6

With a DPS (damage per second) of 196, this assault rifle has one of the weakest DPS values in the list. However, with the R-301 comes huge potential because being an AR, it has a 2x headshot multiplier. It can also attach higher magnification scopes making the weapon more useful at long ranges. Movement while aiming-down-sight (ADS) is slower compared to SMGs or pistols. Although the time-to-kill (TTK) is decent, compared to other options in the list, it is a bit lackluster.

This AR has similar a DPS value like the previous one. However, the Flatline does 19 damage per shot compared to the R-301’s 14 damage. Therefore, with the 2x headshot multiplier in effect, a player will be doing much more damage (38 dmg compared to 28 dmg) with this one. The TTK for Flatline is also pretty even with R-301’s, and similarly, the movement while ADS-ing isn’t the greatest either.

Depending on how pellets work, shotguns do varying damage. Thus, it is hard to measure the DPS for shotguns accurately. A well-connected shot from the Mastiff can deal more than 100 damage consistently, making it easy to down opponents in the early stages. This, in turn, makes Mastiff the most influential shotgun in the battle royale.

This burst assault rifle received a reduction in vertical recoil and burst recoil pattern with the Season 6 update. The Hemlock can be devastating if a player lands a headshot with a burst. It is also instrumental at long range on single fire as one can spam fire rapidly and knock players. However, despite having a high DPS of 178, the shots per second (even on burst) is relatively lower compared to other ARs, giving the Hemlock a higher TTK. To unlock this gun’s full potential, one has to aim for the head to get that 2x headshot multiplier going in their favor.

This sniper rifle recently received a buff. The Season 6 update increased its fire rate, magazine size, and built the Choke hop up into the weapon by default. The Triple Take also has a fast bullet travel time, meaning one can precisely aim at moving targets at a distance and register a hit. Moreover, this sniper rifle has specific spread patterns while standing and crouching. Thus, with some practice, one can deal incredible damage at close range while hip-firing and crouching, without getting that slow movement speed while ADS-ing with a sniper.

The Havoc with a turbocharger is a game-changer. With a turbocharger, this AR has a high DPS of 207 and the fastest TTK in the game. However, without a turbocharger, the Havoc’s DPS drops to a low 172. The TTK has a significant drop as well, becoming one of the worst in the list. Since it is impossible to get that turbocharger every time, this weapon takes the fifth spot.

Although this LMG received a nerf some time back, it stills flaunts the second-fastest TTK after the Havoc. With a turbocharger, the Devotion has a high DPS of 225, and without it, the DPS drops to 203, which is still an incredible number undoubtedly. This LMG also has a massive magazine size. Even without the turbocharger, the Devotion is commendable enough right from the get-go, unlike the Havoc.

The Prowler received a slightly reduced vertical recoil in burst mode and increased horizontal recoil in full-auto mode with the new season. The DPS (203 for both modes) and TTK values for this SMG’s burst and full-auto modes are similar. Moreover, the TTK for this weapon betters the Volt’s TTK by a slight margin. Due to that, depending on the player’s health bars, the Prowler can secure a kill before the Volt in most situations. Yet the Volt surmounts the Prowler in this list.

This Season 6 SMG addition has a high-speed bullet travel time being an energy weapon. This feature counteracts the slightly lower DPS (200) and slower TTK the Volt has compared to the Prowler. The faster bullet travel time makes it easier to track targets at long distances, making the Volt effective at long range. Even at close range, the bullets will hit a target sooner as opposed to the Prowler. Moreover, the Volt also has an insanely stable spray pattern. Therefore, with a little bit of practice, one can easily wreck opponents with this weapon.

The Wingman has a very high DPS that rivals the heaviest of sniper rifles, and its low TTK complements the damage it does. Since the Wingman is a pistol, one can ADS and move at the same speed as if they were hip-firing. This weapon is deadly at long ranges since a player can ADS and strafe quickly without having to compensate for accuracy. The bullet travel speed is also pretty fast, making it a devastating weapon overall.
