Arturo Vidal looks set for a move to Arsenal according to sources in Chile, who claim that the Gunners have agreed a £21 million deal with Juventus for the Chilean, beating a host of European clubs including long time admirers Manchester United. The move is set to be completed after the Copa America.

Argentine journalist Hernan Feler, who was the first to confirm the Gunners’ interest in Alexis Sanchez last season, has indeed confirmed that Vidal is headed to the Emirates this summer.

Reports have surfaced that the club are ready to offload the 28-year-old midfielder and could use the funds to strengthen other positions. The versatile box-to-box midfielder is currently on national duty at the Copa America which will conclude on 4th July.

Vidal has been crucial to Juventus’ success in recent seasons in the domestic league as well as in Europe. Ever since his move to Turin, the midfielder has won the league every season, his fourth this season, and was a driving force for Juventus in the Champions League, where they reached the final.

As for the Gunners, it would be an ideal signing as they look to turn themselves into genuine title contenders next season. A deal could very well materialize as Juventus seem to have signed Vidal’s successor in Sami Khedira.
