Ashleigh Barty Decides to Stay Away From Australia Until End of the Season

World No. 1 Ashleigh Barty is the second Australian player to earn the number one ranking in women’s tennis. In 2019, she cemented her name in tennis, winning the French Open and the season-ending WTA Finals. Prior to her, Evonne Goolagong Cawley was the only female Australian player to have held that esteemed position.
Recently, Ashleigh Barty announced an unfortunate compromise she would have to make in order to compete on Tour. The Australian player has decided not to live in Australia until the season ends. Due to the quarantine rules in Australia, it will be inconvenient for her to visit home and return to the venue of the tournament, as she would have to undergo a 14-day quarantine period each time.

Speaking on this issue, Barty said, “Yeah, Tyz and I are ultimately prepared to stay away for the rest of the season. Obviously, with the quarantine laws in Australia, we do our two weeks quarantine in a hotel, and there is actually not a lot of space in the season to be able to do that just to get home for the two weeks.”
For now, the World No. 1 has decided to live away from Australia. She finds the whole idea totally new and is still deciding on a new place to live during this period.
