After having cruised through the first three rounds, the 25-year-old saw a streak snap in round four against Amanda Anisimova.

Barty’s service was broken for the first time after 63 consecutive service holds. This happened in the second game of the second set. Subsequently, the Aussie broke back in the next game and went a break up in the seventh game en route to a straight-set (6-4, 6-3) win.

In the previous round, Barty beat Italian player Camila Giorgi in straight sets. Prior to that, the Australian star handed her opponent (Lucia Bronzetti) just one game in each set. In the opening round, Lesia Tsurenko claimed just one game to avoid a double bagel after being 6-0, 5-0 down.

Ashleigh Barty will face American player Jessica Pegula in the quarterfinal. It will be a good match for the spectators. However, in the manner in which Ashleigh Barty is going about things, she will surely be the favorite to win the match and advance to the last four.

If all goes well, Barty will face the winner of the other quarter-final match between Barbora Krejcikova and Madison Keys. As the tournament has reached the business end, things will be only getting interesting moving forward.
