The Serbian tennis wizard, Novak Djokovic teamed up with the Japanese sports equipment brand, ASICS in January 2018. He began using their footwear since the Australian Open 2018 after parting ways with the signature Barricade model of Adidas. The Serb was obliged to sign up a contract with the thriving brand as he considers ASICS satisfies the needs of a tennis player on the court.

He believes that their light weight and support structures on the midfoot ensure swift movement and stability during matches. Novak Djokovic perceives the footwear by ASICS to be technologically astute. Till now, his tenure with the Japanese manufacturer has been productive and the Serb is once again just a Slam away from pulling off the ‘Nole Slam’, which is holding all four majors consecutively.

After his Wimbledon 2018 triumph, Novak Djokovic surpassed Juan Martin del Potro for his 14th major crown at the U.S. Open 2018 where he used an upgraded HEAD Speed racquet. And at the Australian Open 2019, the Serb had put on the new ASICS footgear while he thrashed Rafael Nadal in the final.

The new version of tennis sneakers, namely, ASICS Court FF 2 is exclusively designed on the basis of the insights provided by the Serbian tennis player. For the Court FF 2 edition, Novak Djokovic spent almost half a year discussing with the technical team of ASICS for upgrading his shoes and he was delighted with their cooperation.

The Court FF 2 edition is similar to Gel-Court FF (which Djokovic was using in 2018). The term ‘FF’ refers to FlyteFoam cushioning feature throughout the midsole and that is present in both the editions. The new ones are completely re-engineered according to Djokovic’s preferences and consists of a modified outsole.

“This model was designed with influence from Novak Djokovic,” the core performance sports footwear merchandising manager acknowledged. “Built to be the pinnacle tennis model where speed meets stability, durability and comfort are key for athletes who aim to perform at their highest level, and the Court FF 2 is the model to support their needs.”

The new features of Twistruss and mono-sock construction ensure better agility to the player. The internal twist reduces the weight on the sole, and the shoes have enhanced support and durability while providing the best comfort. Since the year 2018, Novak Djokovic has been using the ‘GEL-Resolution Novak’ and now the Court FF 2 will have a GEL-Resolution 7 attribute. This edition is presently one of the highest-performing tennis shoes in the market.

“Specifically, for my kind of tennis where I slide a lot, change direction very rapidly — very dynamic movement — the shoe is obviously essential,” Novak Djokovic mentioned. “I was definitely emphasizing lightness of the shoe that would help my speed but also provide good stability. I’m really keen on having a good Twistruss to be able to have the right rotation. So, the balance between that was definitely a big challenge, but ASICS has the best shoe technology, so it seems like it has been achieved.”

It’s a moment of pride for the Japanese enterprise as the World Number one tennis player, Novak Djokovic is playing with their footwear on the biggest platforms of the sport. Indeed, the ASICS chairman and CEO, Motoi Oyama believes the Serb is instrumental in putting the Asian firm on the European map, and also Novak Djokovic would help them to become the world’s leading tennis footwear brand.

Limited editions of the Djokovic-styled ASICS Court FF 2 were released in January and this month the first full launch of men’s and women’s Court FF 2 sneakers were released.
