“At The Time I Didn’t Think It Was Special”-Anthony Joshua Looks Back At Wladimir Klitschko Fight

Anthony Joshua as we know it has had an illustrious career. He’s had his fair share of fights back in his youth and in a recent interview discusses one fight in particular. He talks about his fight with Wladimir Klitschko.

Anthony Joshua fough Klitschko back in April of 2017. Anthony Joshua then wasn’t the big ring fighter he is today. He discusses everything leading up to the fight. And even how the day of the fight went from his perspective. She shares an account of what it was like to be involved in a match that carried so much weight with it.

The conversation started when they brought up a tweet a fan had requested Anthony Joshua to answer. The tweet said, “how did you feel the morning after beating Klitschko?” And Anthony Joshua took this opportunity to give us a deep dive into his day of and the day after his fight.

Anthony said, “ I’m still a normal geyzy you know. I’m still living in my council flat while fighting Klitschko. You know those beds where you’ve got storage underneath? I’m grabbing my training gear, my fighting gear out of there thinking, ‘Im going to fight Wladimir Klitschko. It’s at Wembley. So my house is about 25 minutes from Wembley. I driving down the Northside. Just normal! Just fighting at Wembley felt normal.”

Back then in the hustle and grind it didn’t seem like such a big deal. Joshua was so engrossed in his ways he didn’t realize how big a moment that was. He said he fought it like any other fight he had. But now looking back, in hindsight, he cherishes those days.

Joshua said,” Now I’ve hit thirty right! I think I’ve taken this time as a 30-year-old, especially this time right now to really reflect and plan. I’ve always said, when I’m done I think I’ll sit in front of a fireplace, with a Carlsberg and a cigar as well. And I’ll be able to reflect more. At the time I didn’t really think it was anything special because I was just going through the motions. But I think as I’m getting older, I’m reflecting more. And yeah man! That was a sick fight.”
