Manchester United faced Villarreal in their second match in this year’s Champions League. This meeting came four months after the latter stunned the Red Devils on penalties in the Europa League final.

Villarreal took the lead through a 53rd minute goal from their Spanish striker Paco Alcacer. However, United responded just seven minutes later through a clever set-piece. Talisman Bruno Fernandes cherry-picked a pass for Alex Telles, who sent a precise volley from the edge of the box into the back of the net.
