Gabrielle Thomas (also known as Gabby Thomas) is an American track-and-field athlete. Specialising in 200m, she has bagged several titles and medals under her name. Firstly, she’s the third-fastest woman of all time in this event. As a result of her incredible timing, of 21.61 seconds, which she set at the 2020 US Olympic trials, the honour is justified.

During her heat, Thomas set a personal best of 21.98 seconds. In her semi-finals, she lessened that PR to 21.94. In her finals, she ran a 21.61, giving a tough competition to the world record holder, Florence Delores Griffith Joyner, who ran with the timing of 21.34 seconds. Eventually, the American claimed a bronze medal in her individual event-200m along with a team silver medal for the 4x100m relay at the Summer Games.

Further, she talked about Thomas’s childhood. She said about how being a toddler, whenever she scampered down a hallway, it appeared like “she was floating on air.”

What does Gabby Thomas say about her competition?

Keeping in mind her completion with Elaine Thompson-Herah and Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, the American says, “I am a competitor. So being lined up against Elaine Thompson-Herah and Shelley-Ann Fraser-Pryce was amazing, and they are my idols. But it also gave me a sense that I belong in this race. And I’m lining up with the best because I am one of the best.
