Usain Bolt, the GOAT of track and field recently shared heartwarming words that his parents said to him before he became a star athlete. The 35-year-old Jamaican is the world record holder in 100m, 200m as well as 4x100m relay. Having won 8 Olympic medals and 14 World Championships, the former athlete has indeed done justice to his nickname, “Lightning Bolt”.

Every successful athlete has a story to tell. For Usain Bolt, his pillar of support throughout has been his parents. Interestingly, he once had to sprint home from school to collect his forgotten lunch and by 10, he could beat his mother in a race. After two years, his parents knew for sure that they had given birth to an incredible athlete.

Recalling some of the childhood memories, his mother, Jennifer Bolt said, “At the age of 12, being in primary school, he started to compete in school sports and he was always on top and he was always beating his classmates. From then, we noticed he would be a great athlete.

Owing to it all to his parents, Bolt expressed his gratitude via a tweet. There, he mentioned what his parent said to him before he reached the zenith of his career. The legend said, “From a early age they always say to me, ‘Son let nobody put you in a box, work hard and live your dreams’.”
