According to a number of sources, including Bleacher Report, Atletico Madrid look all set to sign Filipe Luis for a fee thought to be in the region of €16 million.
The 29-year-old Brazilian player joined Chelsea just a year ago from Atletico Madrid for a fee of €22 million & is now all set to return back for a second stint with the club.
Filipe Luis, who had been mostly kept out of the playing XI as a second choice left back after Cesar Azpillicueta, made only 16 appearances in the Premier League, most of which were as substitutes. He also made 26 appearances in all competitions.
The player was apparently frustrated after constantly being left out of the first team despite playing well whenever he got a chance. Marca claim that the player was not feeling settled in London and desperately wanted to move back to his old club.
This will be the fifth signing of the season for Atletico Madrid after they previously completed the signing of Savic from Fiorentina today itself.
Atletico Madrid & Diego Simeone want the player to travel to Madrid for the medical this Wednesday and want the deal to be completed this week itself.
On the other hand, Chelsea will be looking for a replacement as Jose Mourinho confirmed that ‘if the player leaves then Chelsea will have to react and move to the market’.
Chelsea is already pursuing John Stones and are ready to offer €30 million for the Everton defender. Augusburg defender Abdul Baba Rahman is also set to be brought into the team as the second-choice left back as a replacement for the outgoing Filipe Luis.
