

The Laver Cup is all set to get official status from ATP Tour. The ATP and Laver Cup reached an agreement where the Laver Cup will be a part of the official ATP World Tour.
The ATP and Laver Cup announced on Friday that the event will be an official part of the ATP World Tour Calendar. However, no ranking points would be awarded to the participants.

Roger Federer and his management created the Laver Cup, started in 2017. The Laver Cup has fared well in the first two editions. The 2019 edition is all set to start in Geneva from September 20-22. The tournament sees the Team Europe take on Team World in a course of 3-days with the top players participating in the event. The ATP and Laver Cup combination will take the tournament to new heights.
Tony Godsick, The President and CEO of Roger Federer’s management company, TEAM8 and Laver Cup Chairman said, “The Laver Cup team is incredibly excited about this partnership with the ATP.”
“It has always been our hope to build the Laver Cup in partnership with the tennis world, and certification by the ATP after two editions is an overwhelming validation of our vision,” Godsick added.
Roger Federer was also delighted about the collaboration of the ATP and Laver Cup. He said, “It’s wonderful to know that the Laver Cup will be part of the tour that I’ve dedicated more than 20 years of my life to. This partnership is a wonderful example of how the tennis family can unite to promote and grow the sport we all love.”

World No. 1, Novak Djokovic said, “The Laver cup is a true celebration of tennis. As President of the ATP Player Council, I’m proud to support this collaboration.”

“It has struck a chord with fans worldwide in a very short time, This event has great potential to reach new fans around the world,” ATP Chief Chris Kermode said about the association of ATP and Laver Cup.
The agreement between the ATP and Laver Cup, give access to the ATP services, including marketing and social media to the tournament. In addition to this, operational personnel such as match officials and Physios will also be provided by the ATP.
